HARRISBURG, Feb. 18 -- The people who have joined state Rep. Harry Readshaw, D-Allegheny, in his campaign to preserve Pennsylvania's monuments on the Gettysburg battlefield often are referred to as "Readshaw's Raiders." Now, a new regiment is forming: "Readshaw's Readers." In recognition of his preservation efforts, Readshaw was asked by the authors to pen the preface to the latest edition of the book "Guide to Pennsylvania Troops at Gettysburg."

In addition, authors Richard Rollins and David Shultz of California pledged $1 from the sale of each book to the Pennsylvania Gettysburg Monuments Project. To formally kick off the sale of the book, Readshaw and co-author Shultz will hold two book-signing events on March 17. The first will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the B Dalton Bookseller in Strawberry Square in Harrisburg. That same evening, they will sign books at the B Dalton Bookseller in the Camp Hill Shopping Center. In addition, signed copies of the book will be available at a booth March 20 during the annual Civil War Expo at the state Farm Show Building in Harrisburg.

The "Guide to Pennsylvania Troops at Gettysburg" is published by Stackpole Books of Mechanicsburg, Pa. The price is $17.95. More information about the Gettysburg Monuments Project is available on the Internet at www.fourscore.orgNote:  this book has just gone out of print and is unavailable.  We will again sell it when it comes back into print.
