Visitors to the battlefield rub the nose of Patrick O'Rourke. « the 58th New York Infantry monument
This monument commemorates the commander of the unit, Patrick O'Rourke, who died at this site on Little Round Top. This monument receives considerable unwanted attention from visitors; it has become a "custom" to rub the bronze relief for good luck. This has damaged the patina on the bronze image. The granite was cleaned in April, 1997, but the bronze needs to be cleaned and waxed. The base stones need repointing.
• Estimated cost is: $ 2,100.

(63rd, 69th & 88th New York Infantry) »

Stonework was chipped by vandals using a hammer or mallet. In addition, the pointing on this monument is generally substandard and needs remedial work. The bronzework is in acceptable condition, but is due for waxing. The stone is stained and needs cleaning. Minor moundwork is required.
• The estimated total cost is approximately: $ 7,890.
