The many hundreds of monuments on the battlefield are truly "Icons of Freedom." Our goal is the formation of a board to develop and implement a strategy for the preservation of the 146 monuments and the Pennsylvania Memorial that commemorate the actions of Pennsylvanians at Gettysburg, encourage increased federal funding for the park and challenge the other states with monuments at Gettysburg to establish similar programs for restoration and maintenance of their monuments and markers.
